Fork in the Road: Dinner at the grocery store

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) – You know how they say you shouldn’t go grocery shopping when you’re hungry?

Well, the Fork in the Road team found a place where it’s okay to go to the store hungry.

In fact, they encourage it.

When you walk into Baesler’s you see folks with shopping carts hustling to pick up groceries.

If you look and listen a bit closer, you’ll find a full-blown restaurant inside the store.

“Your cakes, your donuts, your muffins. Everything from wings to fried chicken…so today we have Chinese food and tomorrow it will be Taco Tuesday…basically, if there is something you’re wanting, you can come here,” Deli employee John Simmons said.

They even have a complete sushi bar, thanks to Gladys…who makes them every day.

“On Sundays, we have a vegetable beef soup that is Bob (Baesler’s) mom’s recipe. It’s one of the best vegetable soups you can get anywhere,” Simmons said.

From donuts to sushi and everything in between, Baesler’s is worth the trip.
