MARTIN COUNTY, Ind. (WTHI) – (UPDATE): Police are currently looking for a suspect who was involved in a shooting with a Martin County Sheriff’s Deputy on Monday morning.
Indiana State Police reports the Martin County Deputy pulled over a light colored 2012-2017 Dodge Dart on Mobley Road at 5:16 a.m. for a traffic violation. This is about a half mile from Wildman Road.
While speaking with the driver, he reportedly pulled out a handgun and fired a shot at the deputy. The deputy returned fire, but the driver left the scene traveling east on State Road 450 near Trip Road.
ISP reports the Deputy was not injured.
The suspect officials are looking for is described as a slender tall white male, wearing a dark hoodie and blue jeans. “This subject fled our officer in a dirty, light colored, newer Dodge Charger or Dart with the taillights that go across the trunk,” Martin County Sheriff’s Office reported.
No license plate information is available at this time.
A $1,000 reward is being offered to anyone with information leading to
an arrest and conviction.
