PARKE COUNTY, Ind. (WTHI) – Whether you are visiting our area for the Covered Bridge Festival in Parke County or live here and can enjoy the bridges anytime, we all know the scenic bridges are the inspiration for the festival.
They inspire dozens or perhaps hundreds of artists.
Big Raccoon Creek provides a continuous hum as it flows over the dam in Bridgeton.
The mill was built in 1870.
It’s the bridge spanning across that is the scene of serenity that’s inspired the name of the festival that has kept folks coming back to Bridgeton for almost 60 years.
Delores Collings hasn’t missed a Covered Bridge Festival. She lives just outside of Bridgeton.
“Sunsets and sunrises and a lot of things that’ll take your breath away,” Delores said.
Her life has yielded four children, eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and thousands of paintings.
